A Week In Napa

#794 Napa- This beautifully stitched landscape of the Napa Valley was the canvas d'jour at a Napa needlepoint retreat hosted by Aristeia of Brentwood, California. The stitching on this piece is another example of the artistry of Aristeia owner, Wendy Harwood. Wendy and Aristeia teacher, Laura Taylor ferried retreat attendees through each stitch. I brought mine home to finish. Happily, Wendy's stitch guide will be available to the general public.- Melissa

Alex-Paras Bracelet

745-A I was tickeled to see this great bracelet stitched by Pauline Salzman at Alex-Paras Needlearts in St. Petersburg, Florida because I'm stitching this one too. I love the green leather lined cuff and it looks like there are rhinestones in the flower centers. What fun!-Melissa

An Angel For The Tree

#685-Special Tree Top Angel. Alison Hodgekiss, owner of A Stitch In Time in San Marino, California, sent this photograph of an exquisitely stitched and finished Tree Top Angel. I was visiting her shop and was thrilled to see this angel just the way I had envisioned her. Jennifer Frank stitched this beautiful piece and Gina Liuzzi was the instructor for the class A Stitch In Time offered.

Angel Stocking

#686-A Dorthy Corcoran stitched this stocking at A Stitch In Time in San Marino, California. It is truly beautiful. The photogragh doesn't do it justice. The face, the hair, the cuff, everything about this stocking is perfect. Instruction was by Gina Liuzzi.

Apple Sauce Wacky House

#618-A Susie Kono of Aristeia stitched the Apple Sauce House. She dolled it up with tiny Christmas lights, beads and do-dahs. It is really cute.

261-A/285-A-Christie Farmer from Aristeia stitched these Easter Bunnies. Their fur is beautifully sculpted turkey work. They are fabulous.

Aristeia's Big Bad Witch

#702-2 Wendy Harwood of Aristeia in Brentwood,CA brought her beautifully stitched BIg Bad Witch to the Columbus TNNA market and it was the hit of the show. Her (the witch's, not Wendy's) cascading red curls, beaded shimmering snake, attached purple flies all work wonderfully to make this piece spectacular. Wendy chose to stitch the larger 15 inch version on 13 mesh. The finishing is by Marlene of San Francisco.

#672-B Susan Robeck stitched this piece at Aristeia in Cailfornia. I was told she is a relatively new stitcher. She did a beautiful job.

Counting Crows-Fun Stuff!

#737-A This Halloween Crow was SOOO cute. Wendy Harwood stitched it up (she made a few design changes) in her usual fabulous way and Marlene finished it. The springy legs allow the little crow to bob and rock at the slightest nudge. Everyone loved it at the Columbus show. Kudos to both Wendy and Marlene.

Elegant Elephant

#149-A Susan Schwalke-Weatherby gave this Elegant Elephant to all the women in her family to stitch at Christmas time together. I think she may have helped out on a couple of them. They are finished in silk and are beautiful. This red one is Susan's mother-in-law's. Terry Christopher of 2 the Point in Pleasanton, CA. provided the threads and stitch guide for this great family project.

1189-G This was a show stopper at Aristeia's trunk show. I'm a big Frida fan and this was one of my favorites. Stitched by Greg Palmer and finished by Sharon Hall at Mountain Shadow.

February and December Snowmen

#'s 494 A&L Stitched by Don Lynch at Charlotte Needlepoint in North Carolina. The stitching on these two snowmen is beautiful. The Valentine Snowman has charming little heart beads along the hem of his fuzzy swearter.

Fishing Santa

#205 U Stitched at 2 the Point in Pleasanton, CA. Shop owner Terri Christopher cleaverly created the name out of twigs. The sunglasses were added by the stitcher.

Fresh Fruit

#524-D Stitched by Mary Legallet at Aristeia in Brentwood. CA. This pillow was one of several fruit designs stitched beautifully by Mary with open stitches to reveal the shaded painting beneath.
